Large Ranking Games with Diffusion Control

چکیده

We consider a symmetric stochastic differential game where each player can control the diffusion intensity of an individual dynamic state process, and players whose states at deterministic finite time horizon are among best [Formula: see text] all receive fixed prize. Within mean field limit version game, we compute explicit equilibrium, threshold strategy that consists choosing maximal fluctuation when is below given minimal otherwise. show for large n, n-tuple provides approximate Nash equilibrium n-player game. also derive rate which reward best-response converge to other, as number n tends infinity. Finally, compare games with two-player case. Funding: Support from Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft [Grant AN 1024/5-1] acknowledged. The research N. Ranking games.

BACKGROUND Research rankings based on bibliometrics today dominate governance in academia and determine careers in universities. METHOD Analytical approach to capture the incentives by users of rankings and by suppliers of rankings, both on an individual and an aggregate level. RESULT Rankings may produce unintended negative side effects. In particular, rankings substitute the "taste for sc...

Ranking games

The outcomes of many strategic situations such as parlor games or competitive economic scenarios are rankings of the participants, with higher ranks generally at least as desirable as lower ranks. Here we define ranking games as a class of n-player normal-form games with a payoff structure reflecting the players’ von Neumann-Morgenstern preferences over their individual ranks. We investigate th...

Large Distributional Games with Traits∗

A comprehensive theory of large strategic games with (socioeconomic and biological) traits (LSGT ) has recently been presented in Khan et al. (2012 a and b), and in this paper, we present a reformulation pertaining to large distributional games with traits (LDGT ). In addition to a generalization of work initiated and advocated by Mas-Colell (1984), we delineate the role of saturated spaces, as...

Ranking with Large Margin Principle: Two Approaches

We discuss the problem of ranking k instances with the use of a “large margin” principle. We introduce two main approaches: the first is the “fixed margin” policy in which the margin of the closest neighboring classes is being maximized — which turns out to be a direct generalization of SVM to ranking learning. The second approach allows for k different margins where the sum of margins is maxim...

Large Games with Countable Characteristics∗

We consider anonymous games with an atomless probability space of players in which players’ characteristics are countable. Our main result shows that the set of equilibrium distributions coincides with the set of distributions induced by equilibrium strategies together with the function assigning characteristics to players. This results implies the existence of Nash equilibria in continuous lar...
